HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOURSELF? Would you know what to do if a life-threatening emergency occurred in front of where you are right now? An emergency can happen anytime, anywhere, with no warning whatsoever. At your workplace, while you are out shopping, eating out, taking in a movie or a ballgame, or even in your own home, someone could become the victim of a heart attack, a stroke, or a serious injury or illness.
Like most people, your first reaction would be, "I have a cell phone. Let me call 9-1-1 and get EMS on the way." That's great; everyone knows this critical step. After all, EMS response times have improved steadily over the years (5-7 minute average); EMS personnel training has dramatically improved; paramedics can administer medications and use a defibrillator to shock the heart back into beating, and the hospital isn't that far. And if the patient requires advanced care for trauma or stroke, helicopter transport to hospitals with these facilities is more readily available than ever before. The unfortunate thing is, statistically, that victim is at the greatest risk of death within the few minutes which pass between the onset of the emergency and the arrival of EMS. In as little as four minutes after breathing stops, the chances for survival for that victim become reduced to 60% without immediate aid. After as little as 10 minutes, the chances for survival are down to less than one percent. Even in cases of severe bleeding, a diabetic emergency, or a severe allergic reaction to an insect sting or ingested substance, the shock from these emergencies can be just as life-threatening as a heart attack or stroke! At that critical moment, a trained person who is willing to provide immediate aid is absolutely essential to become the difference between life and death. And that is why Trinity Response Resource is waiting for your call. Trinity Response Resource (formerly known as the Trinity/Seven Springs Training Center), along with the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), can bring you the most complete and up-to-date training to not only recognize an emergency, but to be able to start lifesaving emergency care, and continue care until EMS arrives and takes over.
In fact, not only has public, or community, CPR training become more important than ever in saving lives, but there is even more good news for the citizen responder or lay rescuer. If you watch any kind of medical programs on TV (fine programs that they are), you have most likely witnessed more than one scene where the stars of the programs, in their roles as doctors, nurses, or paramedics, have used an electronic device known as a defibrillator, to apply an electric shock to a victim of cardiac arrest, returning the victim's heart to its normal rhythm. Now, there is a device known as an automated external defibrillator, or AED, which performs the same function of defibrillation. These devices are turning up in a lot of public places, such as airports, stadiums, and government buildings, and are available for public access by anyone who is properly trained in their use. The really good news is that anyone who can be trained in CPR can also be trained in the use of an AED! The AED, when integrated with CPR, can increase the chances for survival of a victim of cardiac arrest by as much as 50% over CPR alone. Saving lives has been made a lot easier than ever before for the citizen responder or lay rescuer! There is also, now available, and AED that can be purchased over-the-counter, without a prescription, by anyone, such as people with a family member in their home who is at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. We can provide the training you need to use the AED, should you find the need to purchase one. If you want, or need, professional, nationally-accredited training in CPR or Basic First Aid, regardless if you are a private citizen or healthcare professional, Trinity Response Resource is ready when you are!
